A Study on the Growth Factors of Dactinomycin-treated Chick Embryo

Abstract
During the development of living organisms, many factors acting on them exist and their intensity of activities on each organ may be different on each developmental step.
Author intented to analyze growth factors of chick embryo administered Dactinom¡þycin and define their intensity exerted on the growth of each organ.
The value of body weight and the weight of 5 organs-brain, heart, liver, lung and kidney of chick embryo-were measured on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th day of development after injection of 2mg Dactinomycin into the chorioallantoic sac on the 8th day of incubation.
These value were standardized by the standard deviation of each organ, and the growth factors acquired by the method of factor analysis of Holzinger and Harman. The results were as follows;
1. Fi, F2 and F3 were introduced to be the growth factors of Dactinomycin-treated chick embryo. Fi was acceptable as general factor and F2 & F3 were acceptable as group factors.
2. The first factor was the growth promoting factor.
3. The second and third factors act as promoting factors on the growth of body weight and liver, but as inhibitory for the growth of brain, heart, lung and kidney.
4. The value of communality was highest in the brain. 5. The value of uniqueness was highest in the heart.
